Kansas basketball recruiting target Quentin Grimes, a 6-foot-5 senior combo guard from College Park High School in The Woodlands, Texas, will announce his college choice on Wednesday, the final day of the early signing period, he reported Monday on Twitter.

Grimes, who is ranked No. 11 in the Class of 2018 by Rivals.com, will sign with either Kansas, Texas, Marquette or Kentucky in a 6:30 p.m. ceremony at his high school. Various recruiting services believe KU and Texas are the leaders.

“I talk to Coach (Bill) Self almost every week,” Grimes told The Star on June 19. “He calls and lets me know I’m a big priority, what his visions are for me, who he has coming in to play with me.”

Grimes averaged 28.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game his junior year at College Park High.

“They (KU coaches) were real straight-up and straightforward with me that I’m the best guard in the country,” Grimes told Rivals.com’s Eric Bossi. “They have (playing) time available and really think that I would be a good complement with Charlie Moore next year. They said they have to get me, they were very clear on that.”

Grimes earlier in the recruiting process also had Baylor, Texas A&M, LSU, Indiana, Arizona, Duke, Oklahoma and others on his list.

Here’s ESPN.com’s scouting report on Grimes written in August:

“Grimes is a combination guard that has excellent size, strength, feel and skill. He gets to the rim on the break where he does a good job of finishing. He has a nice pull-up jumper and floater in the lane. He can knock down the mid-range jumper and three-pointer when set and on balance. He can pass on the move or run the offense. Grimes can make plays with the ball on his hands when he is on or off the ball. His size makes him a tough guard match up. … Grimes is a high major combination guard with great size. He can score and make plays on and away the ball. At times he brings to mind Dallas Mavericks guard Deron Williams.”
